Location at Aquatic Park

BPRC is located at the South end of the 'Lagoon' in Berkeley’s Aquatic Park (2851 Bolivar Drive, approacheable from the city of Emeryville).   You can see the boathouse from Interstate 80/580, between the University and Ashby Avenue exits.   A city dock adjacent to the boathouse’s small parking area provides access to the 1500 meter waterway that runs parallel to the Interstate.

Apart from the Late-Spring and summer months, when BPRC shares the 'Lagoon' with water skiers (and their launch) from the Berkeley Water Ski Club during specified times of the day, the City of Berkeley allows no motorized craft on the water between November 1 and March 1 of each year.   Therefore, rowers and paddlers enjoy fairly calm waters throughout most of the year.   See our Water Time Allocation Schedule to find out what hours they have priority on the water.

Driving directions from the South

You are heading towards Berkeley on Interstate 80/580.   Passing Emeryville, get in right hand lane, then:

After Emeryville, exit RIGHT at the Ashby Avenue/Shellmound Street offramp. The exit ramp splits - take RIGHT hand option, marked 'Shellmound'. Turn LEFT where ramp ends, onto Shellmound Street. Continue straight to the end, where there is a parking area and a big steel gate keeping the public from turning LEFT onto the causeway that separates the pond on the south from the estuary on the north.   Go through that gate (close it after you), across causeway, then RIGHT for 100m.

Driving directions from the North

You are proceeding South on Interstate 80 through Berkeley.   You pass the University Avenue exit, then:

Take the next exit, Ashby Avenue, RIGHT, and continue stright onto the Interstate 80 overpass, which then become an underpass beneath the RR tracks. Coming out of the underpass, get in the right hand lane and turn RIGHT at the first intersection, which is 7th Street. At the end of one block, where 7th Street ends, turn RIGHT onto Folger Avenue. 30 yards later, turn LEFT onto Hollis Street. A short block and then your first RIGHT turn onto 67th Street. One long block, over the RR tracks then RIGHT onto Shellmound Street. Continue straight to the end, where there is a parking area and a big steel gate keeping the public from turning LEFT onto the causeway that separates the pond on the south from the estuary on the north.   Go through that gate (close it after you), across causeway, then RIGHT for 100m.

Driving directions from the East

You are proceeding West on Ashby Avenue through Berkeley.   You pass San Pablo Avenue, then:

Turn LEFT onto 7th Street. At the end of one block, where 7th Street ends, turn RIGHT onto Folger Avenue. 30 yards later, turn LEFT onto Hollis Street. A short block and then your first RIGHT turn onto 67th Street. One long block, over the RR tracks then RIGHT onto Shellmound Street. Continue straight to the end, where there is a parking area and a big steel gate keeping the public from turning LEFT onto the causeway that separates the pond on the south from the estuary on the north.   Go through that gate (close it after you), across causeway, then RIGHT for 100m.
