The Boathouse
The Kenneth A. Hayes boathouse (see History) is owned by the City and leased by the Club. The Club maintains the boathouse facility, as well as the public dock and surrounding area at the SW corner of Aquatic Park (see Location).
Boat Bay
The facility houses a fleet of sculls and kayaks for member use. These include four race-worthy flat water singles, two Maas 24 open-water singles, a Maas double, and a Sykes quad. There are several kayaks on-site, along with a Huki outrigger double (OC-2) and a Huki outrigger single (OC-1), and two canoes for member use. Among the kayaks, there are stable craft suitable for beginners, as well as “tippier” craft for more advanced paddlers (see also Boats). There are also several privately-owned sculls and kayaks in the boathouse.
The 'Lagoon'
We share the water with the Berkeley Water Ski Club
- see our Water Time Allocation Schedule to find out when they have priority.
Weight Room
In addition to the boat bay, there is a small gym where members and their guests have access to free weights – including barbells and dumbbells – and a weight machine that include leg press, lat pull-down, seated row, bicep, and triceps options. There are also two Concept 2 Model-D ergs and a Concept 2 Dyno machine, as well as a decent sound system to provide inspiration (!).
Etc.
There are men’s and women’s locker rooms. Along with bathroom facilities, each has two showers (with hot water!) and room for members to stow towels and bath supplies.
